Aquaponics Set Up

Today we'll cover setting up an aquaponic system.
Although this is a fairly easy task, it does require some basic knowledge of aquaponics. If you have decided to install an Aquaponics system in your house, (or you're simply researching it) we're hopeful the following information with help you. Below you will find 5 essential things which you should know in order to be successful.
1.     Location
The place you put your aquaponic system is very important for the way both the plants and the fish will develop. In order to obtain great results you should make sure that the temperature from the room is optimal, that there is enough light for the plants to prepare their food, and that no wind or extreme weather conditions will reach them. Also, make sure it is contained well enough that no harming chemical substances can get inside the water as this means death for both your fish and your plants.
2.     Oxygenizing the water
The happier your fish are, the better your aquaponics system will work! This is why you need to oxygenize the water on a daily basis and make sure your fish have all the oxygen they need.
3.     Choosing your fish
The aquaponic system works well with nearly all types of fish. Yet, there are some states with specific laws relative to the type of fish you can have and grow.  Research the types of fish you are allowed to have before starting your aquaponicsystem.
4.     Pot Placement
Place the pots or the entire system at your waist level is best. It requires less effort and makes the daily care routine a much easier and enjoyable activity.
5.     Adding additives
In some cases your fish may not provide all the nutrients needed for your plants. If the quantity is lower than what the plants need, then you will have to supply them with the following substances; iron, calcium carbonate or potassium carbonate.
Aquaponics is an easy activity which will provide you with the necessary vegetables and fish in a short amount of time. Just follow the tips mentioned above and you will have great success in your attempt to grow organic food in your home.

Aquaponic Gardening

Aquaponics 4 You Aquaponics Gardening is a fairly new and very effective way to garden fresh food and vegetables all year round.   It is also a relatively simply system that can be sustained in an hour or less, depending on your level of interest in year-round fresh vegetables! ☺

With that said, Aquaponics can not take care of itself! It is true that this system requires very little care, it is still essential that you give Aquaponic fruits and vegetables those few minutes a day each and every day in order to achieve good results, and keep the gardens or farm producing for a long period of time.

The major process in aquaponics is water and aeration. If the water is properly aerated, then your fish will be happy and your plants will grow normally. On the other hand, if the water is not properly oxygenized, then there are very few chances that your garden will survive for more than a couple of days.

Here’s why. Disolved oxygen is necessary for the fish to breathe. (And fish are essential in this process.) Even though the fish live under water they still need to breathe and just like in case of other animals, they need oxygen to survive. When they lack oxygen they die, thus the balance from your aquaponic system is lost and in a matter of days your plants will start to get yellowish and eventually die out.

It’s important to monitor the quality of your water each and every day, and have a back-up plan in case the power gets off and the air pumps will no longer be able to function. While this may sound complicated, if you have ever owned fish or a fish tank, you know that it can be as simple as checking in (or having someone you trust check in) on the system daily. Beyond that, there is not weeding, fertilizing or backbreaking planting work involved!
